The Christian Nationalist agenda is fully committed to securing extremist zealots into positions of power to dictate a new repressive reality for a culturally and religiously pluralistic society in America. They are as close as one seat away on both our public library and school board, to gaining that voting power.

From a strict policy standpoint, Bolin and his slate want to defund Cromaine’s tax revenue and limit access to library materials based on an absurd and disgusting rightwing smear of library associations. From their campaign website:

However Bolin’s feigned concern for “pornographic material” in libraries is alas as much of a hypocritical farce as his carnival barker style sermons on closer examination. Bolin has called Bill Johnson, senior leader of the controversial charismatic Bethel Church in California, a “personal friend” he “will not disavow” despite national media reports that Johnson allegedly aided in a coverup of child sexual abuse and sexual assault by clergy behind church doors.

This is a story we’ve all heard played over in the news media to everyone’s disgust. But Bolin refuses to denounce his ”personal friend” over such abhorrent allegations coming from inside Johnson’s own church.

Bolin’s presence on the library board would not only signal disaster for Cromaine patrons in our community, it could very well serve as a stepping stone to higher offices in local, state and perhaps even national office. This is why voting local is so important. Don’t be fooled by their smear campaign, Bill and the rest of this slate must be stopped at the voting booth this election season. 🛑✋

Bolin Spreads Harmful Disinformation

“You know there are no homosexuals or lesbians. There are people who have chosen to have sex in a non-normal fashion. That’s what they are. People who have chosen to have sex in a way that’s not normal.”

Homosexuals and lesbians want partners and there’s not enough of them. So what do they do, they corrupt children. It’s so demonic.”

“These Heathens are wanting to impose a heathen philosophy – a heathen doctrine – a heathen practice on us in America.”

“If there is a school administrator, school teachers or politician who are advocating for transgender surgeries and transgender change of a body and locking children into that, they need to go to prison for child abuse.”

WHAT EXACTLY GOES ON AT FLOODGATE ANYWAY?

The answer to that question isn’t hard to find: NYT best-selling author Tim Alberta, a pastor’s kid who grew up in Brighton, has featured Bolin in a chapter of his most recent book “The Kingdom, The Power, And The Glory: American Evangelicals in an Age of Extremism.” You can listen to audio segments of the book below.

Bolin also boasted to his congregation about insulting Governor Gretchen Whitmer, chuckling that “I did do a Nazi salute and called her ‘Whitler.”

Bolin defended the deadly January 6 insurrection – Trump and his mob’s attempt to overturn an election that he lost handily – calling it “not a big deal.”

Google Reviews of Bill’s Church, Floodgate

You don’t have to take our word or Tim Alberta’s word on Floodgate. Just look at what the community has to say.

Kristina G. is youth specialist from The Connection Youth Services and previously worked at Brighton Center for Recovery. Here is her review of Floodgate Church:

“Unethical and far from separation of church and state. Holding political debates to show support for a political candidate is also against the IRS tax laws. Currently, the law prohibits political campaign activity by charities and churches by defining a 501(c)(3) organization as one "which does not participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements), any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office." Besides also supporting PIME, and organization that support’s conspiracy theories, this ‘church’ is far from a charity organization or a safe haven for those wishing to practice their religion (unless your religion is white christian nationalism). Don’t let this place fool you. It is a haven of lies and corruption.”

Josh S. of Brighton:
“Comments from the pastor's wife and son cast doubt on [sic] his professional competence. Moreover, a distressing incident occurred when I was berated for not setting up a speaker immediately after attending my 12-year-old cousin's funeral, revealing a lack of empathy and understanding.

Allegations of financial mismanagement, including the firing of the worship pastor under the guise of voluntariness, further tarnished the church's reputation. The pastor's unwarranted disclosure of my parents' alleged "crisis of faith" and fabricated marital issues added personal distress, exposing a willingness to use misinformation for control.”

Andi C. “No thanks. It was so political and we felt uncomfortable 😣. Almost like a cult. We were with my cousins and it Felt fanatical. Not sincere at all.”

Tim B.:“Left my son in the children's ministry yesterday and they were speaking in tongues and had the children doing it as well. Extremely upset and dismayed by it. Completely inappropriate and was never mentioned to me before or after. Insanity.”

FLOODGATE EVENTS

5/2024 Bill Bolin’s MAGA Floodgate church hosted the nationwide ‘Courage Tour’ which has a clearly stated partisan purpose as described by organizers Lance Wallnau (7 Mountains movement) and Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA as their mission being to ensure that Trump receives more than 81 percent of the evangelical vote in 2024, asserting that if that can be achieved there is almost no way Donald Trump loses.

According to the Tour’s organizers Livingston County was identified as one of the “19 key counties” that “God has chosen” in the country to be targeted by MAGA groups like Turning Point USA with the goal of turning out Trump voters. One of the speakers backed a bill authorizing the death penalty for queer people in Uganda. Another speaker previously stated that “God wants Christians to terrify national Democrat leaders" Click the link below for more info about this event Bollin hosted in Hartland that reportedly drew five thousand people.
